Smart Lightbulb Saves Wi-Fi Vulnerabilities: LIFX Warns All Home Networked Devices

However, there are also hackers who have shown a new loophole that many people have never thought of. If they are used by people with ulterior motives, this method may have terrible consequences. The crux of the problem is that WiFi authentication will be transmitted in the process of communication using the AES encryption standard.

Unfortunately, because it has never changed, hackers can use special debugging hardware to identify the encryption algorithm and use it to capture and decrypt WiFi authentication.

Although LIFX has fixed this issue, it also warns all home networking devices. To ensure network security, OEMs need to do more.
