In broadcast-based Ethernet, all workstations can receive broadcast frames sent to the Internet. Each workstation must determine whether the information frame is sent to itself, and if so, go to the higher-level protocol layer.
In the Ethernet with carrier sensing and collision detection CSMA / CD protocol, the workstation must listen to whether the network is idle before sending data. Only when the network is not blocked, the workstation can send data.
