NASA is exploring how to use VR technology to help space exploration. With the development of VR, scientists and students can explore the universe at the Goddard Space Center in Maryland. VR technology allows students to explore rock formations, identify MSI and other features, and save time and money.
The VR project pilot leader Grubb called a group of high school and college students to help him learn VR programming. Stewy Slocum is a freshman student. For him, the new technology is simple, but to others it cannot be understood as fast as he is.
NASA volcanologist Brent Garry said: "Surely some older people are still struggling because they are not used to operating with ten fingers at the same time. They will think: Am I going to fall? I'm going Travel?†The goal of the Space Agency is to encourage more staff to explore virtual reality space.
NASA senior web developer and VR expert Bryan Stephenson said in a podcast: "In the center, engineers and scientists are pushing for the application of virtual reality technology to increase their work efficiency or make things easier."
In the near future, NASA (the early adopters of VR) plans to let those who have VR technology experience Goddard in a comfortable home.
Grubb said: "People think: It's so cool and fun. How does this play? We're trying to show scientists that, oh, this technology has so many things to offer."
Earlier this month, NASA sent VR cameras into space. Its picture will be played through National Geographic magazine. For most of us, it is not possible to enter space, but VR cameras allow us to understand in depth what space is like.
Senior National Geographic executive director said: "VR can not only let you know what the life of the space station is like, but also let the astronauts tell the story of the space station on the show so that you can see through space from their eyes. Earth."
