Currently, the single-eye resolution of the HTC ViveVR glasses helmet is 1080 X 1200 pixels. According to HTC's suggestion, the monocular resolution of the new generation of products will be improved. As there are rumors that the resolution may reach 4K level. Other new products will also be upgraded, including the possibility of new Knuckles controllers.
This may also be related to the Vive Focus, a wireless product launched by the company in November, which includes Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chip. The product uses a 3K resolution (2880x1600 pixels) AMOLED screen.
The current Vive is priced at US$599, a drop of US$200 since its listing. The new version may mean that the price of the old version has dropped. Of course, HTC is also likely to further adjust prices as its main competitor Oculus Rift is currently priced at US$399.
HTC will announce more product information on January 8.
