The TDK Group has released a new line of EPCOS z-axis transponder coils for passive entry-in (PEPS) automotive keyless entry systems. The assembly is extremely compact and measures just 7.7 mm x 7.4 mm x 2.65 mm with an extremely low mounting height. The B82451L*E402 series includes seven transponder coils with inductances ranging from 1.0 mH to 10.0 mH. Depending on the model, the transponder coils have sensitivities ranging from 7 mV/μT to 23 mV/μT at a frequency of 125 kHz. The quality factor Q of the new component is between 50 and 58.
The new Z-axis transponder coils are rugged and reliable with terminal-embedded injection molded substrates and laser-welded windings and are AEC-Q200 certified.
In addition, the Z-axis transponder coils are perfectly integrated with the EPCOS x-axis y-axis B82450A*A*, B82450A*E transponder coil series. The latter two packages are only 11.4 mm x 3.5 mm and 8 mm x 2.7 mm, respectively, and are also extremely compact. The solution uses three independent transponder coils for superior design flexibility and space on printed circuit boards (PCBs). For example, when the new Z-axis transponder coil is used in combination with two 8 mm X-axis and Y-axis transponder coils, this design has a package area of ​​only 100 mm2. All EPCOS transponder coils are RoHS compliant.
