GDC 2017: Hypereal Leads VR Trend to Create Complete Ecology from Baidu VR

On February 28th, Hypereal was the only Chinese VR company invited to give a speech. He held a special lecture “VR in China” at VRDC@GDC. Hypereal used Directive Games' Super Kaijus game in his speech to demonstrate the comparison of Hypereal's VR solution with Oculus' solution. From a visual point of view, it visually demonstrated to the industry that Hypereal's hardware performance has reached the highest level in the industry, and is prolonged. Even better in terms of time.

In the speech, Hypereal said that the current focus of the VR industry is that developers need to master and open the vertical industry chain of VR technology. VR is still a young and emerging industry. There are still many immature aspects in terms of hardware, software, game engines, and algorithms. Developers are required to continuously improve. "Only by understanding the technical challenges faced by the VR industry today, and finding out the corresponding solutions, technology startup companies like Hypereal can truly promote the development of the entire industry, rather than eager to make products come out and use the industry bubble to make profits." John Gu, Head of Developer Relations at Hypereal, commented.

This is one of Hypereal's warm-up activities to promote a new generation of VR devices. Hypereal is based in China and serves China. The products are all researched, developed, and produced in China and are purely made in China. Today's VR industry is still at the initial stage of development. The entire VR ecosystem and the upstream, downstream, and channel links have not yet been completely linked, and Hypereal is trying to change this situation, lead the VR trend, and create a complete ecosystem.

Hypereal is also constantly adjusting its market strategy and integrating resources to achieve its ambitions. The choice to focus on the Chinese market is due to a number of factors. Whether it is language, culture, channels, markets, or competitive landscape, technical support, logistics support, and partnerships, these factors have driven Hypereal to give priority to the domestic market.

“As a start-up company, we have a passionate dream and a thirst for technology. At the same time, in business, we know how to put the existing resources into the right battlefield. The Chinese market is our advantage, and it is our guiding direction. A mature starting point,” said Huang Chaiming, CEO of Hypereal.

HYPEREAL believes that the VR industry in China today is still undergoing a tortuous development process. However, with the bursting of many PC VR and glasses boxes in the early stages, Hypereal is very confident in its strategy of entering the market.

The first step of the HYPEREAL journey is the open source core laser positioning technology, demonstrating its determination to co-build a VR ecosystem with more developers. HYPEREAL believes that the entire industry can continue to advance only when more professionals participate in the innovation of this VR technology.

Like other major PC VR vendors, Hypereal has always been committed to lowering the threshold of VR experience. In "VR in China" speech, Hypereal announced the minimum configuration of its PC VR solution:

GPU:

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960

AMD RadeonTM 470

CPU: Intel® CoreTM i3-6100

AMD FXTM 8350

This means that the cost of owning a VR-ready PC has dropped from $1,000 to around $500. For many VR enthusiasts, this is undoubtedly an exciting news. HYPEREAL believes that while reducing the minimum configuration of VR PCs, it is also necessary to significantly reduce the price of VR headsets without sacrificing high-quality experience. HYPEREAL's vision is to provide the public with the most cost-effective VR solutions. In particular, when China's per capita GDP and disposable income are significantly lower than those of developed countries, reducing hardware prices also means lowering the threshold for VR to enter the mass market.

“In the domestic first-tier cities like Beijing and Shanghai, the per capita disposable income per month is less than 700 US dollars. You can imagine that a Chinese family needs to spend a whole month of income to buy a PC VR hardware device. This is very It's impractical. And Hypereal's job is to make it impractical," John Gu said.

In addition to its outstanding research and development capabilities, Hypereal's ambition is more than a hardware company. HYPEREAL's blueprint for development in China is dedicated to allowing every average consumer to immerse themselves in a virtual reality experience. From hardware acquisition to consumer experience to service providers, Hypereal will build a market for content providers. HYPEREAL predicts that by the middle of 2018, the scale of China's PC VR market will increase from the current 250,000 units to 1 million units. In addition to hardware, Hypereal also announced the creation of more VR content for Chinese consumers. HYPEREAL issued a recruitment order to the developer community during the speech to jointly develop high-quality VR content for the Chinese consumer community and complete the VR ecology.

John Gu said, “We want developers to think from a longer-term perspective. The VR industry is still young, so we can learn a lot from each other, and more importantly, we can get very valuable information from the consumer group. Cooperating with as many developers as possible helps maximize the VR content."

Hypereal is also actively seeking cooperation with mainstream service providers in China, such as Internet cafes, telecommunications and consumer portals, to broaden the B2B2C business model. HYPEREAL has reason to believe that the B2B2C model will bring a win-win situation for all partners. While Hypereal continues to promote the popularity of VR experiences in China, channel partners will provide value-added services to enable consumers to experience VR on a larger platform, and also give developers greater market development space.

This VRDC@GDC is just a warm field for Hypereal's follow-up activities. HYPEREAL CEO Huang Chai Ming revealed the next step of Hypereal. “On March 27, 2017, we will announce more information on new products in Beijing. We are ready to set off in the VR industry and hope that more people can join us. And grow together to make virtual reality a reality in China.”
