GE Lighting Announces Reconciliation with CRS Patent Litigation

In 2012, GE Lighting has filed a new lawsuit against six companies for patent infringement patent litigation. The company released the latest news on February 10, 2014, stating that GE Lighting and lighting company CRS have already applied for GE's 864 and 999 patents. For settlement, CRS will pay royalties to obtain GE's two patent rights.

On December 28, 2012, GE Electronic Lighting Department sued the six companies in the United States for the infringement of lighting devices in CRS, Technical Consumer Products, and Lights of America. GE has infringed its US patents 6,799,864 and 6,787,999 for six corporate lighting fixtures, involving LED heat sink fins, system design, and replacement of existing fixture designs.

GE did not disclose the details of the settlement between the two parties, only to disclose that CRS agreed to obtain the above-mentioned patent rights of GE through authorization. GE is pleased with the progress of the settlement and emphasizes the determination to defend patents. GE also pointed out that its 864 and 999 patents are related to the extension of LED lamp life technology, and GE is also open to authorizing these two patents.
