Intel officially officially supports the Vulkan API to bring more choices to improve the gaming and virtual reality experience on Windows PCs. These supports provide an opportunity for Vulkan applications to be compatible with Windows-based virtual reality heads.

Later this year, PC makers such as Lenovo, Dell, and Hewlett-Packard will all launch head-mounted displays connected to Windows 10 PCs. Microsoft will launch the VR development kit at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco on February 27.

Intel has improved the graphics capabilities of its integrated Kaby Lake GPUs to provide 4K graphics capabilities. Vulkan will use new features to bring a better gaming experience.

Although it is already possible to run Vulkan games on Windows PCs through the drivers provided by Nvidia and AMD, the previous beta drivers are very unstable, and now Intel has launched official support for Vulkan, which is expected to increase the stability of the drivers.

Vulkan is similar to DirectX 12 and can be used for many applications, but it is most relevant to visual applications such as games. The open source Vulkan has many similar features. It can take advantage of the latest GPUs and CPUs to provide better graphics quality. It also uses less system resources and can generate images faster.

High-end smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 also support Vulkan. Games running Vulkan use less system resources to increase the life of laptops and mobile devices. Vulkan has been regarded as the future of Linux PC and Steam platform games.
