â— Plasma screen
The screen (also called the panel) is the most important part of the plasma TV, accounting for 60% or 70% of the cost of the whole machine. The quality of the screen directly determines the pros and cons of the flat-panel TV. At present, only a few manufacturers such as South Korea's LG, Samsung and Japan's Panasonic have plasma screen production capacity, and LG's A3 production line is recognized as the most advanced plasma production line. To a large extent, the choice of plasma TV is the choice of plasma screen.
The filtering techniques of different plasma screens are also different. The traditional filter technology uses a glass external screen, and the viewing effect is easily affected by the external environment. To this end, major manufacturers have introduced filter technology to improve image quality, such as Panasonic's "new deep black filter layer", Samsung's "twilight technology" and so on. The latest filter technology is LG's breakthrough in hardware. It uses a very thin film made of special materials to replace the filter glass outside the ordinary plasma screen. Since the filter film can effectively prevent the ghosting and disordered reflection of the glass, the data shows that the brightness and contrast are improved by 5% and 20%, respectively, and the image quality is obviously better than the conventional filter glass.
At present, from the market point of view, although many manufacturers are also purchasing LG's plasma panel, but unfortunately due to patents and other reasons, LG has not yet transferred the filter film technology. Fortunately, LG seems to have a plan to promote the technology on a large scale this year. There are many kinds of filter film plasmas available on the market.
â— Resolution
Resolution is the main indicator that determines the clarity of the TV screen. Generally, the horizontal and vertical number of the smallest bright dots (pixels) on the screen are used to indicate the resolution of the flat-panel TV screen. Generally, 852 & TImes; 480 is called VGA, which is "standard definition" level; 1024 & TImes; 768, 1280&TImes; 768, 1366 & TImes ;768 is called XGA, which belongs to the internationally recognized "HD" standard.
In addition, some manufacturers have adopted a resolution of 1024 × 1024, known as "megapixel." This kind of TV screen adopts a special technology, which makes the vertical singular and double-row points alternately emit light, and the close-up viewing may be slightly flickering.
â— Contrast and brightness
Contrast and brightness are important indicators for measuring the pros and cons of plasma TVs. They complement each other and cannot be viewed in isolation. At present, the top plasma products should have a contrast ratio of 5000:1 and a brightness of 1500 lumens. In this way, in the case of sufficient brightness, the color is fine and the layers are clear, and even if some scenes are shadowed during the football match, the picture is also natural and clear.
â— Chip technology
In addition to the above key indicators, TV chip technology (often called the TV engine) is also important. Represented by Sony's "Guixiang Engine" in the CRT TV era and LG's "XD Engine" in the flat-panel TV era, TV chip technology plays an important role in signal processing and image quality improvement. What is gratifying is that domestic brands have also developed chip technology with independent intellectual property rights. If they continue to improve in terms of stability and maturity, I believe that there is much to be done.
