German lighting manufacturer Osram and US analytical equipment manufacturer PerkinElmer signed a contract for the manufacture and sale of white LEDs using optical conversion technology. Osram's subsidiary OSRAM Opto Semiconductors owns and supplies the technology patent.
PerkinElmer plans to integrate white LEDs into the ACULED platform based on chip-on-board technology. This will expand the LED portfolio, with high-power, high-efficiency standard white LED products and ACULED DYOTM white light chips under the ACULED VHLTM brand.
The technology approved by OSRAM is one of more than 3,000 optoelectronic lighting patents filed by OSRAM Opto. White LEDs are manufactured using both InGan blue LEDs. PerkinElmer, a patent-licensed manufacturer of digital imaging and precision instrumentation components for healthcare. OSRAM has also signed the same manufacturing and sales contracts with various companies such as Rohm, Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Seoul Semiconductor.
