Samsung Exynos 9820 coming performance or will hang Qualcomm and Huawei

As the first Huawei to release a 7nm process processor this year, they passed by dislocation and became the strongest processor of Android after the release. Compared with the Snapdragon 845 and the Samsung Exynos 9810, there are various advantages. However, the real opponents of the Kirin 980 are not these two, but the Exynos 9820 just released today and the Snapdragon 8150 released next month.

The Snapdragon 8150 will not be released for a month. Let's not talk about it, so how does the Samsung Exynos 9820, which was just released today, compare with the Kirin 980?

On the morning of November 14, Samsung officially released a new generation of processors, the Samsung Exynos 9820. Unfortunately, this processor does not use the most advanced 7nm process, but uses Samsung's 8nm LPP FinFET process, which reduces power consumption by 10% compared to the 10nm LPP process.

In terms of specifications, the CPU architecture of the Exynos 9820 is an eight-core three-cluster combination of two self-developed large cores (fourth generation), two Cortex A75 large cores and four A55 small cores. Compared with the previous generation, the performance is improved by 15%, the single-core performance is improved by 20%, and the efficiency is improved by up to 40%. The GPU uses Mali-G76 MP12, the performance has been improved by 40% compared with the previous generation, and the energy efficiency has been improved by 35%.

Exynos 9820 has added an independent NPU unit, and the AI transportation capacity has been improved by 7 times compared with the previous generation.

In terms of photography, the Exynos 9820 supports 5 sensors including infrared, which can support a 22-megapixel front + 22-megapixel rear CMOS combination, and the dual camera supports up to 16 million pixels. With NPU can have higher photo quality and faster auto focus. In terms of video, it can record 8K 30fps/4K 120fps video, and supports 10bit HEVC/H. 264/VP9 codec.

The baseband is also upgraded to support LTE Cat. 20, downlink 2Gbps, uplink 316Mbps. Support UFS 2.1/3.0 flash memory, UFS3.0 flash memory is currently only supported by Samsung Exynos 9820.

Although the manufacturing process is slightly worse, in terms of comprehensive strength, Samsung Exynos 9820 has surpassed Kirin 980 and Snapdragon 8150. I believe that after the exposure of the running points, Samsung will win the title of the strongest running points. It's just that Samsung's processors are too niche, and only their own mobile phones are used.

This chip will be mass-produced by the end of the year, and the Samsung S10 will debut next year. But with such a luxurious stack, will Meizu be tempted to see it?
