According to reports, a drone in the UK nearly collided with a private jet, causing an air crash. With the continuous development of drone technology, the omission of safety regulations may cause irreparable regrets.
Earlier, at an altitude of 7,000 feet (about 2,333 meters) in Weybridge, Surrey, England, an unmanned aircraft flew 17 times higher than the standard and almost hit a private jet. At the time, the plane was flying from Bristol to Heathrow Airport at 280 mph when it was nearly hit by a drone 50 feet (about 15 meters) apart.
The co-pilot on the private jet said he saw an object flying over the right side of the fuselage and believed it was a drone. The captain then promptly notified air traffic controllers in Bristol. However, investigators have yet to find the operator of the drone.
The British Airways board, which investigated the accident, said it was the worst potential crash ever and it was "completely a miracle" that the private jet survived.
The 9-seater private jet that was nearly hit is worth 13 million pounds (about 116 million yuan). The private jet is said to belong to a Bristol-based leasing company.
