ROHM develops a new series of long-side electrode low resistance series

This product has been mass-produced on a monthly basis of 1 million units since April 2012. With the expansion of customer demand, production has increased from October 2012 to 4 million per month. The production base is ROHM Electronics Philippines Inc. (Philippines).

As a resistor for in-vehicle equipment, power supply, and motor circuit current sensing, it is generally required to have low resistance, low temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR), and high rated power. In recent years, with the development of various electronic devices with high functionality, the amount of current in the circuit has increased, and the demand for small and high-power products has increased. Among them, there is a strong demand for products with a size of 3216 and a rated power of 1W. In this context, Roma explored the decision to further improve the lineup of related products.

This time, ROHM's original heat dissipation design, as a 3216 size product, has a rated power of 1W, which is four times higher than the rated power of the previous products. At the same time, through the improvement of the structure and material of the resistor body, a lower resistance value is achieved. Achieve the industry's top temperature coefficient of resistance. In addition, ROHM uses a long-edge electrode structure to reduce the mechanical stress on the joint and greatly improve the joint reliability against temperature changes.

With the increase in power and temperature characteristics, it is also easy to use in circuits that require temperature compensation in the automotive industry, and therefore, the design burden can be reduced.
