EU releases the world's strictest carbon emission standards

The European Parliament recently set a world’s most stringent automotive carbon emission control target, which requires automakers to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions by 27% by 2021.

The European Parliament recently formally announced the implementation of the above-mentioned automotive carbon emission control targets with an overwhelming vote, which will force automakers to significantly increase the investment scale in research and development of high-performance engines and automobiles to reduce vehicle carbon dioxide emissions. The EU’s auto carbon emission control plan passed this time applies to all cars sold within the 28 member states of the European Union.

Just before the European Parliament passed the above plan, the European Union and the German side had engaged in months of arduous negotiations on the implementation details of the auto carbon emissions plan. The old European car powerhouse Germany hopes to loosen the control requirements for car carbon emissions. Berlin is concerned that excessively stringent emission reduction requirements will undermine the interests of German car companies such as Volkswagen and BMW.

Thomas Ulmer, a member of the European Parliament of the German Democratic Party, said in an interview with the media: “The EU’s approval of the carbon emission control target for automobiles is a challenge for all European car manufacturers, but it can also help European cars. The company will retain European consumers when it comes to the energy-saving and innovative automotive era."

The above-mentioned automotive carbon emission control targets require that the average level of carbon dioxide emissions of 95% of new cars sold within the EU by 2020 must not exceed 95 grams per kilometer. By 2021, this requirement must cover all new cars sold in the European Union. If automakers fail to meet the above criteria, vehicles that exceed the carbon emission standards will be penalized by the European Union's 95 euros (US$130.60) per gram/km fine. The current target of carbon dioxide emission control for new vehicles within the EU is that by 2015, the average carbon dioxide emissions will be 130 grams per kilometer. In 2012, the carbon emissions of new cars in the EU will be 132 grams per kilometer. In countries other than the European Union, the new carbon dioxide emission control target for the United States is 121 grams per kilometer. The target for the emission control of new cars in China is 117 grams per kilometre, and the new carbon emission control target for Japan is 105 grams per kilometer.

Earlier, the European Union prepared to approve a more stringent 2020 European Union new car carbon dioxide emission standard, but at the last minute due to the strong opposition of German Chancellor Angela Merkel had to give up. Some analysts have pointed out that Merkel has been seeking an automobile emission reduction agreement that can protect the giant automobile industry of Daimler and BMW. However, vehicles produced by Daimler and BMW are in terms of carbon dioxide emissions. Greatly exceeded other European automotive peers, such as the Italian Fiat Group. According to data released by the European Environment Agency, the carbon dioxide emissions of Fiat Group vehicles were 117 grams per kilometer in 2012, the lowest level in Europe; the CO2 emissions of vehicles of the Daimler Group in 2012 were 143 grams per kilometer; Audi The carbon dioxide emissions of vehicles in 2012 were 133.9 grams per kilometer.

FGI`s FGSVG series low voltage dynamic reactive power compensation and harmonic devices are mainly composed of control panels, energy storage capacitors, reactors, IGBT, inverters, fuses and other devices. The Low Voltage Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) has functions such as compensating reactive power, controlling harmonics, balancing negative sequence current and suppressing voltage flicker.
