Sichuan Zigong Lantern Canada shines (Photos)

On Canada's National Day, the world-famous Sichuan Zigong Lantern was lit up in western Canada for the first time today.

In the evening, 56 large-scale lanterns shined in Richmond's Dream Garden in Greater Vancouver. Chinese government Consul General Yang Qiang and Canadian Congressman Chen Zhuoyu and other three levels of politicians and more than 300 guests attended the opening ceremony.

The light show, called the Metro Vancouver International Lantern Festival, highlights the theme of Sino-Canadian cultural exchanges. The chief designer, Wang Zelian, said that the lanterns that met with the audience in Canada have blended Chinese traditions with Eastern and Western cultures and are unique in terms of creativity, conception and layout. Wang said that in addition to the four artistic elements of modern lighting, sound, light, shape and color, the audience can also see the special composition movements, that is, the moving lights.

Joe Lan, the chief planner of the Lantern Festival, said that the large-scale lantern festival was held in Toronto, Canada, but it was the first time in western Canada. The designers involved in the design are the masters of Zigong Lantern. The 56-group color lighting is a design concept that took more than half a year. In particular, he mentioned that Canada advocates environmental awareness. To highlight environmental issues, a group of lights is made from 100,000 bottled water bottles. Another group of squid Yuelongmen is made up of 60,000 pieces of magnet cups, which are worthy of savoring.

It is reported that the Lantern Festival lasted for 83 days, during which a large-scale lantern park will be held on August 8th to celebrate the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games with Chinese at home and abroad.
