Using a Maestro to control a quadcopter

Jacques Bitoniau built a custom control system for his quadcopter that replaces a conventional RC transmitter/receiver and features the ability to switch between two different operators for training purposes. In his system, the operator moves a joystick and a WiFi-equipped PC sends commands to a Raspberry Pi, which communicates with one of our Maestros to produce signals for a flight controller.

Jacques also wrote a C++ library for Windows, Linux, and Mac to control the Maestro using its serial interface. (You can now find this as a Recommended Link on our Maestro product pages.)

You can read more about Jacques’s control system in his forum post.

Barebone System

A barebone system typically consists of a case, power supply, motherboard, and sometimes a CPU cooler. It does not include major components such as the processor, memory, storage, and graphics card, which need to be purchased separately and installed by the user.
The main advantage of a barebone system is its flexibility and customization options. Users can choose the specific components they want to install, based on their performance requirements, budget, and intended use.
Customization: The ability to choose and install specific components allows users to build a computer that exactly meets their needs and preferences. This can result in a more personalized and optimized computing experience.
Cost Savings: By purchasing and installing components separately, users can often save money compared to buying a pre-built computer with the same specifications. They can also choose components that offer the best value for money.
Learning Opportunity: Building a barebone system computer can be a great learning experience for those interested in computer hardware and technology. It allows users to understand how different components work together and gain hands-on experience with assembling and troubleshooting a computer.
Upgradability: Barebone Mini PC is often designed to be easily upgradable. As technology advances and new components become available, users can upgrade their computer by replacing or adding components without having to buy a whole new system.
