Samsung's fourth quarter net profit of 3.6 billion US dollars increased by 17%

January 29 news, according to technology website BGR reports, Samsung Electronics recently released the fourth quarter of 2011 earnings report. The financial report shows that Samsung’s revenue for the fourth quarter reached 47.3 trillion won (about 42 billion US dollars), an increase of 13%; net profit of 4 trillion won (about 3.6 billion US dollars), an increase of 17%.

Due to the popularity of the Galaxy series of smart phones, Samsung's mobile phone sales in 2011 exceeded 300 million units. Samsung plans to introduce more models of mobile phones and tablet PCs this year to reduce the impact of the decline in LCD monitor business profits.

Kang Jeong Won, an analyst at Daishin Securities Co., a South Korean securities firm, said: “With the current macroeconomic situation not very good, Samsung’s performance in the fourth quarter was quite good, thanks to strong smartphone sales. The key question is whether Samsung will continue to maintain this strong performance in 2012."
