NXP Semiconductors NV has announced the launch of several new LED driver ICs for compact, non-dimmable, and improved LEDs, a new addition to the SSL2108x family of products following the SSL21081. With the addition of SSL21082, SSL21083 and SSL21084, NXP currently provides a unified design platform for luminaire designers to develop products for 100V-120V and 230V supply voltages up to 25 W.
Based on GreenChipTM technology, the SSL2108x family is optimized for non-isolated topologies with high output voltages and applications that do not require TRIAC dimmer compatibility.
Compact non-dimming LED lights are gaining popularity in markets such as Japan. The SSL2108x family offers an industry-best solution for these markets with outstanding energy efficiency (up to 95% from reference circuit measurements) and high integration (easy to design full-featured applications with just 14 components) , PCB footprint is small, only 18 x 22 mm) and extremely low electronic material cost (eBoM).
The NXP SSL2108x family of devices offers excellent LED current regulation (better than 5%); it is also equipped with comprehensive protection features including built-in LED temperature protection via NTC temperature sensor inputs; integrated MOSFETs.
