Philips Lumileds adds senior executive to lead SSL expansion in Asia Pacific

SHANGHAI -- Philips Lumileds announced that Alvin Tse, a fifteen-year veteran of the lighting industry, has joined the company as its Vice President of Sales in Asia Pacific.

Mr. Tse will lead its growing team of technical, marketing and sales professionals in the region which is widely expected to be among the preferably growing for solid-state lighting adoption.

In the coming three years it's expected that the illumination market in Asia will be one of the fastest growing segments and at a rate that exceeds other regions.

According to Mr. Tse, "Those companies that can develop the entire LED, from Epi through packaging, and posses the manufacturing capability to deliver the reliability and quality of light required in mass volume, will succeed and lead the transition from conventional to solid- State illumination."

Mr. Tse began his career at Philips Lighting, where he was responsible for the professional lighting business in Hong Kong and South China. He has also held various positions in sales management, product marketing and business development in solid-state lighting, and most recently Ran the global marketing and sales for Light Engine Ltd. (formally Cotco).

Mr. Tse also holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and a MBA from the University of South Australia.
