Texas Instruments' passive equalization bq76PL455A-Q1 monitors and equalizes 16 series lithium-ion batteries. The bq76PL455A-Q1 is powered by a 16V (min) to 79.2V (max) battery pack. In addition to the 16 battery measurement channels, there are eight additional analog channels for temperature or auxiliary signal sensing, providing six digital channels. These digital channels can be configured to generate a fault when the level state changes from high to low or low to high. Understand the accuracy of channel voltage measurement in the operating temperature range of 0~65°C and -40°C~105°C. The passive battery equalization current is set by the on-board resistance. At 4.2V, the current per cell is 56mA.

To stack more than 16 cells, you can connect up to 6 bq76PL455EVM to support 96 cells. Communication with the stacked bq76PL455EVM is accomplished with an isolated daisy-chain differential bus capable of withstanding 500V. The bq76PL455EVM stack can wake up from power down mode with a single wake-up command from the GUI. The simulated LED fault indicator monitors the system for failure and displays it in the GUI.

Use a PC GUI to control a single EVM or multiple stacked bq76PL455EVMs. Communication between the PC and the lowest layer of the bq76PL455EVM stack is via the FTDI USB-TTL (5V) serial interface cable. Communication between all other EVMs in the stack is done via an isolated daisy-chain differential communication bus. The PC GUI allows us to configure the bq76PL455EVM to monitor battery and other analog data channels, control equalization and monitor details of any faults.

The bq76PL455EVM demonstrates the performance of Texas Instruments' new highly integrated bq76PL455A-Q1 16-cell battery stack monitoring and passive equalization device. The bq76PL455AQ1 provides a highly accurate, reliable and stable solution for battery management with the following components:

14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC);

CBD Pod System

A new rule from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) threatens to upend the American hemp industry, and could even result in criminal prosecutions for manufacturers of CBD and delta-8 THC products.

The DEA says the [interim final rule," issued Aug. 20, is simply a matter of adjusting its own regulations to account for changes to the Controlled Substances Act that were mandated by the 2018 Farm Bill (or Agricultural Improvement Act) that legalized hemp and CBD production. The new rule [merely conforms DEA`s regulations to the statutory amendments to the CSA that have already taken effect," says the agency. The new rule doesn`t break any ground, according to the DEA.

But many experts on cannabis and hemp law say the DEA rule creates a potential pathway the law enforcement agency could use to prosecute hemp processors and producers of CBD (cannabidiol) and delta-8 THC (or Δ8THC) products. There are two issues: partially processed CBD, and [synthetically derived" delta-8 THC.
