Compared with 8-bit MCUs, 16-bit MCUs can only be expected to be popular. Compared with 32-bit MCUs, 16-bit MCUs are also self-contained in terms of performance. However, it is lower than the cost of 32-bit MCU and higher than the performance of 8-bit MCU, making it a place in the market of automatic control, instrumentation, image processing, smart home and so on. In addition to this piece of cake that is not currently very big, there are many MCU chip manufacturers. Foreign giants such as TI, Freescale, Infineon, and Fujitsu are working hard on 16 MCUs, and they are constantly offering new products.
Some of the companies mentioned above are familiar to us and their products are often used by us. Many people mention them and they can't help but think of their classics. For example, TI's MSP430 series, Freescale's S12 series. But what if you ask the domestic 16-bit general-purpose MCU? I believe that there will not be many people who can answer. (Of course, if you ask an 8-bit MCU, everyone will say the same thing - STC. I really hope that the same scene will appear when I ask 16-bit and 32-bit MCUs later.)
This time I got to know a 16-bit general-purpose MCU from SP Taiwan, SPCE061A. SPCE061A is another 16-bit microcontroller that has been introduced by Sunplus after the μ'nSP (Microcontroller and Signal Processor) series SPCE500A. Different from SPCE500A, in terms of memory resources, considering the user's less resources and facilitating program debugging, SPCE061A only embeds 32K words of flash memory (FLASH). The higher processing speed enables the μ'nSP to process complex digital signals very easily and quickly.

Everyone knows SPCE061A, of course, it is also necessary to know the owner. This owner, called Lingyang, is a master with a story. Since its inception in 1990 (it is very early), it has made achievements in microcontroller chips, multimedia chips, liquid crystal drivers and control chips and memory chips. 16-bit microprocessor core μ"nSP, 32-bit microprocessor core S+Core, 16-bit, 24-bit digital signal processor technology, LCD control / drive technology, interface technology, MP3/4 algorithm and analog peripheral technology patented technology.
The MSP430 series is the representative of TI's 16-bit MCU, and its classic level is no less than that of Pentium as far as Intel. We use the MSP430F149 in this series for comparison with SPCE061A.

I don't have much to say about MSP430F149. I used my friends to circle the earth a few times. Let's take a look at the comparison of its hardware configuration!
