Pollination is reduced globally, and the associated human drivers include habitat destruction, intensive agriculture, pesticides, invasive alien species, pathogen spread and climate change. Recently, the rapid growth of artificial light sources around the world has been proposed as a new threat to terrestrial ecosystems.
According to a new study, streetlights that bring great convenience to people at night can cause great damage to crops and plants. Because of the "light pollution" at night, it will cause disturbance to the pollinator (distracting the attention of the insect media). To make matters worse, the amount of pollination lost during the night cannot be recovered through the day. At present, most of the research on the number of pollinators in the world is concentrated on daily species (such as bees), but few people have studied in-depth pollinators (such as some moths and beetles) until we are in the journal Nature Ecology. I saw this newly published research report.
According to the report, the scientists set up street lights on seven lawns where artificial light sources had never been placed before, and there were seven other grasses without lights. It was found that the former pollinators visited fewer times and the plants produced fewer fruits.
The paper was published in the journal Nature Ecology
Eva Knop, an ecologist at the University of Bern, Switzerland, said: “The artificial light source at night is growing at an average annual rate of 6%, which has clearly affected the animals.
In general, plants have insect pollination during the day and night. Pollinating insects at night are often attracted to taste, but other factors are also important, such as visual stimuli, which are often sensitive to light at night. As a result, they may be stunned by nighttime artificial light sources; others may be attracted by light, distracting their natural habitat. â€
Insects are attracted by LED street lights
For this study, the Knop team found 14 different grasslands in the real world, half of which were set up with LED street lights that are common in Europe and can be automatically lit at dusk.
They first need to study how light affects the pollinators (see if they visit the grassland), so a specific area is drawn on the grass. The researchers collected all the insects that touched the flowers, calculated and recorded the number of these pollinators in each sample area.
After repeated on all the grasses (day and night), they found that in the grass with light, the number of pollinators at night dropped by 62%.
The consequence is that the number of plant results has also dropped dramatically. The fruit grows from the flowers, but not every flower forms a fruit. Many signs point out that the most important factor in the process of flower growth is insect pollination.
Obviously, this impact is quite negative and amazing.
FranzH.lker, a biologist at the Leibniz Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries Research Institute in Germany (not participating in this study) also said: "Insects are the center of many food webs, so if you interfere with them, you will The entire ecosystem has an impact."
In addition, the scientists monitored the cabbage thistles and found that plants on bright grasses reduced yield by 13%.
Knop said: “Although these plants have many pollinators visiting during the day, they are still unable to make up for the lack of yield loss caused by night pollination.â€
However, one limitation of the study is that it currently only looks at a habitat: grass. Therefore, researchers are still unable to clearly show the exact harm of nighttime light sources to crops, and they hope to reach a conclusion in the future.
Light is safe for nighttime safety, but it is also harmful. Knop says one suggestion is to avoid using light sources of the type that are harmful to insects; another option is to use an induction light that turns on only when someone is nearby. This will be good for the Earth's ecology.
The hotel projector is a smart projector developed according to the accommodation habits of young people.
As long as the merchant installs the projector, the projector room can be launched to provide the guests with super cool
The perfect movie viewing experience, so that the hotel can not only meet the needs of consumers for accommodation, but also achieve
Movie viewing, entertainment and many other needs.
Projectors used in hotels usually have the following characteristics:
1. The picture is clear and high resolution;
2. The operation is convenient and easy to understand;
3. The sound is loud and the noise is low;
4. The film source is sufficient, and the screen can be projected on the mobile phone;
5. On this basis, the requirements of screen brightness and intelligent system can also be increased.
