MR Cardboard finally came

At 2017 AWE held in Silicon Valley, USA, AmberGarage Studio displayed its newest product, Holokit, which is simply the MR version of Cardboard.

It is reported that Holokit is a low-cost DIY device. The interior is equipped with a pair of mirrors that project the mobile phone onto a Fresnel lens set at an angle and translucent so that the user can see the image and the real world at the same time.

Due to the use of mirrors such as Fresnel lenses, Holokit may be slightly more expensive than Google Cardboard, but overall the price/performance ratio is quite high. This device is currently compatible with iPhone 7, iPhone 7 plus, Google Pixel and Google Tango.

HoloKit is a creative project of Hu Botao, the founder of Amber Garage. It was developed by AmberGarage Studio, the research team of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Zhu Fengyuan, a student at New York University. Hu Botao said: "This is a gift to the AR and MR industries. We will open source code for all technical personnel, and each HoloKit hardware will give a DIY guide."
