Substrate manufacturers said that currently Taiwan customers are still dominated by 2 inch PSS (Pattern Sapphire Substrate, patterned sapphire substrate) substrates. Although a small number of customers are also starting to get 4 inch products, the proportion is still relatively low.
From the perspective of shipment volume and revenue ratio, PSS substrates currently account for only about 20% of the overall sapphire substrate shipments, but because of the relatively high quotation, if viewed from the perspective of revenue contribution, it is nearly 50%.

However, as the demand for LED lighting continues to increase, it is expected that PSS substrates will become mainstream products next year.
It is understood that the current average price of 2-inch PSS substrates is about US $ 18 (about TWD 527), which is about twice as high as sapphire substrates of the same size. Because the price is still high, the die factory is not willing to switch, but At present, the supply of PSS substrates has shown signs of magnification. With the decline in prices and the increase in brightness, the penetration rate will increase.
