The reason why the soldering iron is corroded
The iron tip coating is generally iron-nickel-chromium-tin. The iron coating is the key to the quality of the soldering iron. At high temperatures, iron and tin will form an alloy which will dissolve in the liquid solder, resulting in the loss of iron on the surface of the soldering iron. The last phenomenon is the piercing of the tip.
Lead has the effect of inhibiting the action of this alloy, and certainly cannot be completely eliminated.
In addition, the higher the composition of tin in lead-free solder, the more severe the corrosion; the higher the temperature, the faster the corrosion. This is why the lead-free soldering iron tip is faster than the lead soldering.
