Panasonic strives for LED bulbs to account for half of the country in 2012

Panasonic finally released LED bulb products. These include a common bulb type mounted on the E26 base and a small bulb type mounted on the E17 base. Listed on October 21, 2009.

In Japan, Sharp first entered the LED bulb market, and then Toshiba Lighting Technology, NEC and Mitsubishi Electric OSRAM and other well-known manufacturers have also released products. Matsushita, the largest lighting manufacturer in Japan, is slightly behind. The company said: "In order to make the product durable, it takes time to verify performance." The company predicts that the domestic LED bulb market will be 30 million in 2012. The company's goal is to achieve sales of 15 million, accounting for 50%.

The common bulb type has a product with a lower illumination equivalent to a 40W incandescent lamp and a product equivalent to a 60W incandescent lamp, the latter having two types of dimmers and dimmers. In terms of power consumption, the product equivalent to a 40W incandescent lamp is 4W, the equivalent of a 60W incandescent lamp that does not support a dimmer is 6.9W, and the product that supports a dimmer is 7.6W. The small bulb type that supports the dimmer has a power consumption of 5.5W, and the illumination below it is equivalent to a 40W incandescent lamp. The outer dimensions are 72mm long and 40mm maximum outer diameter, which is the same as a small xenon bulb (length 67mm, outer diameter 35mm). Small bulb type LED lighting is the first in the industry. The prices are all open, regardless of size, the product that does not support the dimmer is about 4,000 yen, and the supported product is about 5,000 yen. The price is comparable to that of the competitor.

Panasonic is confident in performance, saying: "The highest energy saving and lightweight in the industry." In terms of overall efficiency, in the ordinary bulb type, the product with a neon color equivalent to a 60W incandescent lamp is 82.6 lm/W, and the product equivalent to a 40 W incandescent lamp is 85 lm/W. In order to improve the luminous efficiency, the heat dissipation method is improved. Specifically, the thermal resistance is reduced by tightly bonding the metal substrate carrying the LED package to the A casing, and an aluminum anodizing treatment is performed on the surface of the casing. By this treatment, the heat dissipation rate of the surface of the casing is increased by 4 to 5 times. Therefore, there is no heat sink as a competitor.

This practice contributes to weight reduction, and the thickness of the cylindrical portion of the casing formed by press working is only about 0.4 mm. In terms of weight, the ordinary bulb type is 100g, and the small bulb type is 50g. The competitive product of the ordinary bulb type is about 140g, and the weight is reduced by about 30%. The LED chip is manufactured by Toyota Synthetic and uses a multi-chip single-package structure. Information such as the number of chips has not been announced.

Incandescent lamps are now shifting to bulb-shaped fluorescent lamps, but they face problems such as the inability to dim and the dim light when lighting. LED bulbs do not have these shortcomings. In particular, products that support E17 are difficult to achieve miniaturization due to fluorescent lamps, and have not yet been converted into bulb-shaped fluorescent lamps, so the demand for LED bulbs is expected to be large. However, LED bulbs have the disadvantage of high price and low total beam. Panasonic plans to first import it into chandeliers and high-altitude lighting applications.
