Samsung Launches a VR Collar AMe to Capture 360-degree Panoramic 4K Video

Panoramic camera Gear 360

Recently, Samsung's two-mesh panoramic camera Gear 360 is officially launched on the Korean market, priced at 39,930 won, equivalent to 350 US dollars. Through the mobile phone APP, users can capture panoramic videos and photos and share them on social platforms. They can also watch through their Gear VR helmets. For consumers, Samsung’s products can already form a closed loop. After all, people can use Samsung’s products to collect and view panoramic content.

However, Samsung seems to think that the girded Gear 360 is not easy to carry, so it launched a more "portable" collar camera.

Samsung Labs' Creative Labs, the company's internal entrepreneurial incubator, launched the above-mentioned circle of panoramic cameras at the recent SDC 2016 (Developer Conference 2016) conference. This product with a big brain hole is called AMe, meaning Around Me (around me). For the original design of AMe, its product manager Jade Minchul said, “Our target users are those who enjoy extreme sports, such as ski enthusiasts, or those who care about daily life, such as those who like to open parties.”

According to the official website, AMe has three small cameras that can capture 360-degree panoramic 4K video. There is also a battery on the back of the collar that provides power, and the entire product weighs 350 grams. In addition, AME also has a corresponding APP, which enables the mosaic of panoramic videos and the sharing of social platforms. Although AMe is still only a prototype product, there is still a long time to go before mass production. However, in terms of color choices, the AMe team has long considered that it can meet the needs of most consumers. There are black, white, gold, and rose gold options.

At present, AMe has not announced specific camera parameters, battery life, usage safety, listing plans, and sales price. However, from the perspective of appearance, Xiao Bian remains skeptical about the wearing comfort of AMe and the stitching of panoramic images. Battery weight is significantly greater than the camera, in the process of exercise or use, it will not hold his neck? In addition, can the problem of screen splicing caused by camera position deviation caused by body movements be solved? (When a person is in motion, the picture is dynamic, and the camera cannot be fixed because of the change. The amount of picture splicing that results from both changes is very large, especially the video. If you rely on the APP to realize it, I am afraid that the The speed and even the sharpness of the final picture can not meet the needs of consumers.) For this panoramic collar, there are panoramic camera practitioners said that the screen will not be stitched together, the final picture will be completely disordered, because the (lens) node distance is too large .

Earlier, Xiao Bian contacted a team to make a sport camera with a headband, hoping to solve the inconvenience of carrying the sports camera. Later, due to a variety of issues and eventually stopped production, one of the reasons is that there is no coordination between wearing comfort and product fixation. If you want to wear comfort, the headband should not be too tight. However, if the product cannot be fixed, it will easily fall off during the screen recording. In addition, there are issues such as fever, lack of endurance, and blurred images.

In spite of this, with the taste of Xiao Bian, AMe is still worth encouraging.

AS-i Passive Distributor

The AS-I (i.e. actuator-sensor interface) bus belongs to the bus system at the bottom device level. It is a two-wire network for digital input and output, which complies with EN50295 and IEC62026-2 specifications.
Various types of digital devices can be connected, such as: Sensors, limit switches, buttons, valves, relays, light curtains and emergency stop switches, etc., and send signals to higher-level controls such as PC, PLC, CNC or DCS system. In general, AS-I does not require shielded cables and terminal resistors.
The unshielded two-wire cable used carries both the signal and the power. Generally speaking, the AS-I bus system is simple and reliable, easy to install and fast to configure, and is widely used in industrial automation fields such as logistics, automobile production, petrochemical industry, and elevator control.
The As-I Passive Distributor simple module is pierced and connected to the flat cable, which is suitable for installation in a narrow space, and can provide connection methods such as aviation connectors.
