Lattice Semiconductor and Cypress Semiconductor Corp. today announced a low-cost development kit with a complete reference design for the development of the USB 3.0 video bridge at the Intel Developer Conference (IDF). The new Lattice USB 3.0 Video Bridge Development Kit simplifies the integration of USB 3.0 audio and HD video for a wide range of applications. The kit features Lattice's ECP3TM FPGA family and Cypress's EZ-USB® FX3TM USB 3.0 peripheral controller.
USB 3.0's 5 Gbps bandwidth delivers high-definition video smoothly without the compression process that degrades image quality. The Lattice USB 3.0 Video Bridge Development Kit includes all the hardware and software needed to develop USB 3.0 cameras, frame grabbers, machine vision systems, surveillance devices and other audio and video USB 3.0 conversion systems. Thanks to the Lattice ECP3 FPGA, the kit supports high-speed reception and packaging of AV data into USB 3.0 UVC and UAC data frames without the need for external caching. The kit has the flexibility of FX3 to support parallel, MIPI CSI-2 and LVDS camera interfaces, as well as HDMI and SDI audio and video formats. The kit is now available in the Lattice store.
