Advantages of OLED
1) The thickness can be less than 1mm, only 1/3 of the LCD screen, and the weight is also lighter;
2) Solid structure, no liquid substance, so the earthquake resistance is good;
3) Active illumination, width angle >170 degrees, contrast >10000:1
4) The response time is <0.1ms, which is one thousandth of the LCD (3D has advantages);
5) Good low temperature characteristics, can still display normally at minus 40 degrees
6) gamut width
7) High luminous efficiency, energy consumption <50% LCD
8) It can be fabricated on substrates of different materials, and can be made into a flexible display and a light source that can be bent.
Disadvantages of OLED
1) The OLED luminescent material has very poor anti-oxidation ability after being energized, and it is required to be vacuum glass package. Therefore, the LTPSTFT substrate is required, and thus the cost of the OLED application in the large-sized field will be high;
2) At present, the yield of large-size OLED panels is still not significantly improved, which also greatly increases the cost of the OLED product line, and also makes the output cannot be rapidly improved;
3) Due to the different properties of luminescent materials, component lifetime is limited by short-board effect (eg. blue light material)
4) As lighting, the plugging method is difficult to be compatible with existing systems
The biggest advantage of OLED white light relative to LED white light
1) The OLED light source is a planar light source with a low operating voltage of only 3-5 volts. It adjusts the light to any color, as well as the shade and intensity of the hue. Its color reproduction index is close to 100, which can imitate most white or sunny colors. Bright, low shadow, low operating voltage and comfortable white light, can be as transparent as a window or reflected like a mirror;
2) Ultra-thin, light weight, soft, curlable, durable, short response time, wide operating temperature range, no noise and environmental protection. Compared with LEDs, there are fewer inserts, which can be mass produced and cheap;
3) OLED is a current-driven device, the brightness can be varied within a dynamic range of 10,000 candelas per square meter, and uniform illumination without glare. Has good color coordinates, high color reproduction index, and can adjust white light from cold to warm;
4) OLEDs can be deposited on any substrate and can be used as substrates for glass, ceramics, metals, thin plastic sheets and other compatible materials, and can be made into any shape or pattern to fundamentally create new lighting designs and illumination. culture;
5) OLED light source has a long service life. Due to the development and application of related material components, it is expected that the service life of white OLED lighting can be extended to about 700,000 hours.
