Vishay Releases Position Sensors for Steady Operation in Harsh Environments

A few days ago, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. Announced the launch of a linear position sensor using non-contact Hall effect technology, the 20 LHE, which meets the requirements for long-term stable operation in harsh environments.

The Hall effect technology used in the new 20 LHE enables it to operate with high frequency vibration up to 20G and 50G shock conditions. With a lifetime of 10 million cycles, the device is ideal for short-stroke measurements in industrial applications such as loading and unloading forklift truck steering, tractor gear shifting, truck tilt sensors, pressure measurement and pedal replacement systems.

20 LHE has ±1% precision linearity. The sensor provides either an analog ratio output or a digital PWM output that maintains continuous and stable performance over the life of the device without any drift in linearity. 20 LHE's operating voltage is 5V ± 10%, typical supply current is less than 16mA, can withstand +20V overvoltage and -10V reverse voltage. It is recommended to use 1kΩ load resistance for analog output and PWM output. The device complies with RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC.

20 LHE can now provide samples and will begin mass production in the first quarter of 2012. The lead time for large orders is 12 weeks.
